"Fairy tales where not only the Frog King is thrown against the wall"

As a child, the Berliner Lotte Reiniger was fascinated by Chinese shadow play and began creating her own stories at an early age, which she performed within her family circle. She gained fame through the feature-length silhouette film "The Adventures of Prince Achmed."

In the 1950s, she produced many fairy-tale silhouette films in England, some of which are presented here with musical accompaniment by the silent film pianist Gerhard Gruber.

These short films are treasures in the world of animation.

The essential triad of Film-Audience-Music is crucial for him, ensuring that no performance is identical to another. He always seeks to be seduced anew by the films and aims to transmit this tension to the audience.
